Saturday 14th July 2018 will be our 58th Gala Day. On the day the field behind the village hall will be full of stalls and activities for all age groups. We start at 1pm with the Parade leaving the service road at Rickman’s Corner after our judges, Mr Les Richardson and his wife Michelle have chosen the winners, we will start travelling through Overseal lead by a marching band with the Gala King & Queen, the official Guests and Floats following behind making it a great start to the day. When the Parade arrives at the Village Hall at around 2pm the afternoon is in full swing with lots of people looking at all that is on offer. The Guests make their way to the stage for the opening of the gala. This year our guest opening the Gala is the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mr Hardyal Dhindsa. After the opening there will be the announcement of the results of the parade float competition, the winners of the village scarecrow competition and judging of the fancy dress competition and presentation of the prizes. At 2.30pm the entertainment in the main arena starts with acts like music from the marching band, dancing groups, displays from local teams or clubs. The fun and entertainment continues until 5pm when the Grand Prize draw is announced and The Overseal Gala Day is officially closed to bring an end to another year.
